France3 : Paris Local evening news. TV Narrator: Somewhere in the North of France, some clicks of a mouse, and there we start. MattRach: So here is my bedroom, which is also my home studio. It is where I make my music, and upload it on the internet. TV Narrator: On the web, MattRach is a real phenomenon. Over 16 million visitors have already watched his music and videos. Bass guitar, guitars or keyboard, MattRach can play almost every instrument. MattRach is into everything, and has already composed 25 original tunes. (Don't forget the drums!!!) MattRach: I started playing music when I was 8 years old, so it will soon be 10 years… TV Narrator: And why did you start playing music? Mattrach: My parents were into music a lot and it encouraged me to start playing. TV Narrator: To satisfy his passion, MattRach plays whenever he can and even though his mom and dad are his first fans, 10 hours of music is not easy to handle every day. Mathieu's Mom: We don’t see him often around the house, and I must confess that in that sense we are not a regular family. Mathieu comes down for dinner to eat with us, but goes back to his music right after, that’s his thing you know. MattRach: At the moment, all I do is simply play music in my room...just for fun, I'm just like other teenagers, I'm a high school student who plays music at home. TV Speaker: At home, but not only. Because Mathieu is a perfectionist, he has been taking classical guitar lessons at Valencienne music school for 3 years. Guitar Instructor: For classical guitar, he is extremely talented, both technically and musically. TV Narrator: Talent is here and so is the motivation. Unfortunately, after losing the popular vote MattRach has not been selected as one of the ten finalists in the Guitar Idol competition. It seems that the judges were looking for something different then what MattRach had to offer. The focus of the contest has become more technical guitar playing, and Matt's entry has fallen short. Though Dark Paradise certainly shows off MattRach's songwriting ability, it lacked the type of technical performance that the judges were looking for. On a side note, the website continues to be under construction and should be completed shortly. For now, please feel free to discuss the Guitar Idol news with the comment section until the forums are up. MattRach will be helping us create a complete biography, so check back for the coming updates! |
